John P. Sheerar

John P. Sheerar is a principal of Newman Dignan & Sheerar, Inc. and has over 40 years of experience as an investment account manager and an estate and trust planner. Prior to joining ND&S, John was a First Vice President and Executive Account Manager at the Private Bank of Rhode Island Hospital Trust. At the Private Bank, John managed trusts and investment accounts with a market value of over $400 million. He served on the bank's account administration committee, the real estate committee and was chairman of the charitable trust committee. John began his trust and investment career with the Washington Trust Company as a private banker and tax specialist. John attended Syracuse University and received an MBA in finance from the University of Rhode Island in 1982. He is also a graduate of the ABA National Trust School at Northwestern University. John is a member of the Planned Giving of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Estate Planning Council. He has served as a member of the Development Advisory Committee for several non-profits including Moses Brown and the Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program (UCAP). John was on the board of the Rocky Hill School for seven years and was on the nominating Committee of The South County Hospital. John resides with his wife Helen in Charlestown.
